GCWR (Gross Combined Weight Rating)
GCWR is the maximum allowed weight of the loaded tow vehicle and the loaded trailer together, set by the manufacturer for a specific engine, axle ratio and drive configuration.
How this site uses it
On this site GCWR appears as its own column on every year page. The manufacturer's maximum trailer weight for a row is normally GCWR minus the vehicle's base curb weight, which is why two trucks with the same engine but different axle ratios tow different amounts.
Where a source publishes only GCWR and curb weight, the site shows a value labelled "derived (GCWR − curb weight)". A derived value is not a manufacturer rating and is never used in the ranked tables.
The towing calculator checks your combined weight (curb + passengers + cargo + loaded trailer) against GCWR as one of four limits.
